Tiger

Lying on the bathroom floor
across the air vent
breathing pained
and tense
he looked up at me
with the saddest eyes
like he wanted to let go

I reached down and
I cupped his head
in my hands and sighed
"I love you baby..
it's ok.. "

rest in peace,
my little one

we whispered through our tears
as we covered up
his cold remains
with the earth he
loved so much

he leaves a small mound
in the backyard
of my parent's home
but gaping holes
within our hearts

we'll miss him
but he breathes easy now
